CBS Picks Up ‘How I Met Your Mother’ for Season 6
January 27, 2010
How I Met Your Mother fans have a lot of reasons to celebrate. After the 100th milestone episode and Neil Patrick Harris’ equally successful directorial debut last week, CBS has extended the series for yet another year. That means more hilarious misadve
ntures, more awesome catchphrases and more waiting for the big Mother reveal.
The pickup, however, isn’t surprising especially if you’re a fan of How I Met Your Mother. The show, which is about a father recounting to his son and daughter the events that led to his meeting their mother, leads off the network’s top-rated Monday comedy block and is averaging 8.9 million viewers. The series has also received generally favorable reviews.
Meanwhile, it looks like executive producers Carter Bays and Craig Thomas will soon be pulling double duty. According to the Hollywood Reporter, CBS is currently developing a new series with the people behind How I Met Your Mother called Livin’ on a Prayer, which is a romantic comedy about a young couple and their friends and is set in Pittsburgh. How I Met Your Mother writers Kourtney Kang and Joe Kelly will also be onboard the said project.
